The AAC Adult Connection Group is designed for adults ages 18 and older who use augmentative and alternative communication.
Currently offered virtually, the group provides a welcoming place to connect through shared interests, conversations, games, collaborative activities, and participant-selected topics.
Participants are encouraged to communicate using AAC, speech, typing, gestures, or any combination that works for them. The focus is authentic connection and belonging—not communicating in one “right” way.
Community meetups and outings may also be offered, with the possibility of an in-person group as interest grows.
Each group is welcoming, flexible, and shaped by the interests of its members. Activities may include:
• A warm welcome and relaxed check-in
• Participant-selected conversation topics
• Games and collaborative activities
• Music, media, and shared interests
• Opportunities to make choices and practice self-advocacy
• Planning community meetups or outings
There is no pressure to communicate in one particular way. Participants are encouraged to join at their own pace and use the communication methods that work best for them.
